Twellium marked the International Day for Women and Girls in STEM at the Diaspora Girls SHS in the Eastern Region.
The program involved a mentorship session and donation of 10 Arduino Sets to the STEM club at the Diaspora Girls Senior High School. This forms part of Twellium’s effort in rewarding and investing in programs that spark innovation and creativity in Ghana’s educational sector.
Speaking on behalf of Twellium’s General Manager, Mohammad Kawtharani, represented by Daniel Anyorigya, noted that “this is an investment in the next generation of female leaders who are ready to use technology to solve real-world problems. Also, Twellium hosts brilliant women scientists who lead innovation and creativity in our operations. So this is an opportunity to celebrate their impact and inspire the younger generation”.
Twellium nominated six scientists among its high population of female scientists to mentor girls at the Diaspora Senior High School. These scientists included; Ofosua Aboagye, Efua Nyameye Fynn, Vida Fokuo, Asiedu Ama Sporia, Stella Adzidah, and Akotoyeh Seraphine Rosina.
Mr Anyorigya, further added that, “this is to prove that a career in STEM is not just a dream, but a tangible reality and Twellium as an advocate of SDGs and Agenda 2063 will contribute its quota in raising the next STEM inspired girl child.”
The students showcased self-developed STEM creations;. automated water dispenser, automated dustbin, a “rain sensing smart house”, and filtration system. Also, students performed a short drama highlighting the importance of STEM education. The performance was a moving reminder that when girls are given the right tools and mentorship, they can achieve anything.
The Headmistress of Diaspora Girls Senior High School Madam Patience Naki Mensah expressed their deep appreciation for the support, and Twellium is incredibly proud to have been part of such an uplifting experience, helping to pave the way for a brighter, science-driven future for these young girls.
