Twellium, Ghana’s leader in food and beverage manufacturing, has announced a strategic partnership with Zipline, a global leader in instant drone delivery, to roll out a series of blood donation drives across Ghana.

The year-long initiative, themed “To Share Love, Donate Blood”, seeks to mobilise citizens to voluntarily donate blood to boost the reserves of the National Blood Service, which will ensure that hospitals across the country are better resourced to save lives.

This partnership, in collaboration with the National Blood Service, reinforces Twellium’s commitment to SDG 17, which pertains to ‘Partnership for Goals”.

Together, we would build the Ghana We Want as posited by the Agenda 2060 by the African Union.

Twellium, as a food and beverage manufacturer, will, among other things, hydrate and refresh donors with Verna Mineral Water, beverage products, and McBerry’s assorted confectionery.

Twellium’s General Manager, Mr Mohammad Kawtharani, highlighted that:

“Blood shortages remain one of the biggest healthcare challenges in Ghana. As a company addressing the food and beverage needs of the Ghanaian, we believe it is our responsibility to give back to our communities. By partnering with Zipline, we are not only encouraging donation but also ensuring blood reaches the people who need it most. We are more than a company, we are a lifeline for Ghana.”

Daniel Merki, Country Director for Zipline Ghana shared the company’s excitement and commitment around the partnership.

“Zipline Ghana has supported the National Blood Service since 2019 with both instant blood deliveries and support for blood drives across the country. These blood drives are sometimes low-yielding because of inadequate public education about the blood system in Ghana and the public’s unwillingness to donate for free. This partnership allows us to improve incentive packages for blood donors, educate communities on the importance of donating, and boost blood supply within the country. Every drop donated can save a life – but only if it reaches the patient in time. That’s where Zipline’s instant logistics system comes in. Together, we’re building a future where no one dies due to lack of blood.”

Twellium and Zipline are calling on students, professionals, religious groups, and the public to join the movement and help save lives.
