Twellium celebrated Pink October with a campaign aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer and promoting wellness across the company.
The initiative encouraged employees to prioritize their health while fostering a supportive and informed workplace community.
“Pink October has increased awareness and education on breast cancer, its symptoms, and the importance of early detection. It has also encouraged the staff to prioritize their health,” said Rita Dick-Samels [Senior HR, Twellium]
To mark this awareness month, Twellium hosted its first-ever breast cancer-themed photo session, generating excitement among employees.
“The photoshoot was the first of its kind here in Twellium, and employees were extremely excited such was being done,” shared Ismael Ali, a Hygiene Officer at Twellium.
Throughout October, staff dressed in Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts participated in educational sessions and engaged in wellness-focused activities, including aerobics and games designed to promote physical and mental well-being.
The Environmental Health & Safety Officer at McBerry, Eric Asamoah, highlighted its commitment to expanding its health initiatives.
“Yes, we plan to build on future campaigns, incorporating employee feedback and expanding health initiatives beyond October to include mental health and overall wellness. Coordinating across multiple departments and locations is essential,” Mr. Asamoah stated.
In addition to the activities, Rita Dick-Samels noted that employees were appointed as “health ambassadors” to promote wellness within the company.
Competitions and incentives for healthy habits were also introduced, encouraging employees to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles.
Human Resource Manager at Twellium, Madam Kafui Dogbe noted that “by observing Pink October, various departments came together to fight against breast cancer, promoting a culture of awareness, support, and hope”.
Through social media, employees expressed solidarity with breast cancer survivors, sharing individual and group photos in T-shirts that bore supportive messages like “I’m a Survivor.”
Looking to the future, Ismael Ali expressed hopes for continued health campaigns, saying, “With the help of management, we hope to plan and have a series of health campaigns in the coming years to educate workers more beyond their work and build a healthy and strong environment for all.”
Twellium’s commitment to health and wellness, exemplified by this month-long initiative, strengthens the company culture and supports the well-being of every employee.
