Verna Mineral Water also earns environmental sustainability recognition for its “No Seal, Less Waste” initiative.
Twellium Industrial Company Limited has been named Ultimate Beverage Manufacturing Brand of the Decade at the sixth National Governance and Business Leadership Awards 2026, marking a milestone in more than a decade of manufacturing, product innovation and regional expansion.
The company also received recognition through Verna Mineral Water, whose “No Seal, Less Waste” programme was awarded Outstanding Environmental Sustainability Initiative of the Year. The two honours bring attention to Twellium’s development as a manufacturer and its efforts to incorporate environmental responsibility into its products.
A decade of investment and growth
Founded in Ghana in 2013 by Hussein Kesserwani and Hassan Kesserwani, Twellium commenced production on 4 February 2014. Since then, it has expanded its manufacturing capabilities and introduced a diverse portfolio of locally produced beverages and food products.
Brands including Verna Mineral Water, Rush Energy Drink, Bigoo, Planet, American Cola and Bubble Up have become central to that journey. The introduction of McBerry biscuits, wafers, cookies and cakes extended the company’s activities into food manufacturing, while Rosa Premium Glass Water and the recently introduced Dairy One range reflect continued product development.
Behind this growth is sustained investment in manufacturing infrastructure. Twellium’s Accra-area operations and Kumasi factory support its Ghanaian production network. The company’s development also extends beyond Ghana. Its manufacturing presence in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, and company-reported local production in Sindia, Senegal, demonstrate a regional approach that combines exports with investment in production closer to consumer markets. Ghana’s Export Promotion Authority lists Burkina Faso, Liberia, Mali and Côte d’Ivoire among Twellium’s export destinations.
Recognition for practical environmental action
Verna’s environmental award highlights a specific change in packaging. Through “No Seal, Less Waste,” the brand removes additional plastic seals from its bottles, reducing unnecessary packaging at source.
The initiative connects product innovation with responsible consumption and production, a central theme of Sustainable Development Goal 12. It complements Twellium’s investment in effluent treatment and its broader attention to the responsibilities accompanying industrial growth.
That commitment also has a social dimension. Through the Twellium Foundation and Verna Changing Lives, the company supports healthcare, education and livelihoods. Documented interventions include incubators and phototherapy equipment for health facilities, assistance with medical treatment, community infrastructure and support for Ghana’s national amputee football team.
The decade award adds to Twellium’s manufacturing honours, including its recognition as Most Innovative Company of the Decade at the 2026 Ghana Manufacturing Awards. Together with Verna’s sustainability distinction, it marks a significant chapter in a business built through local production, expanding regional operations and continued investment in the products and communities it serves.
